Rules & Regulations

  1. ViBGYOR is a Festival for the Non-Feature films with six major sections, namely the ViBGYOR Package, Global Concerns Package, Focus of the Year, Retrospectives, Experimentals, and Kerala Spectrum. Documentaries, Short fiction, Music videos, Animation films and Spots are the genres usually showcased at ViBGYOR.
  2. ViBGYOR package will accept films that come under its seven themes representing the colors of the rainbow. They are: `Indigenous People, `Dalit Reality’, `Gender & Sexuality’, `Fundamentalism v/s Diversity’, `Nation State’, `Globalization’ and Region Focus (PAKISTAN)
  3. For the year 2009, we have chosen `Food Soverignty’ as the theme for the ‘Focus of the Year’ section. Twenty One films will be selected under this section
  4. Last date for submitting your films for PREVIEW, under all categories, is December 31, 2008 (post marked).There will be pre-selection for all categories.
  5. To register your film in any section, download the entry form from http://www.vibgyorfilm.com and fill it in by computer or hand. Post it, signed, to us with two DVD copies of your film (Region 2 or All Region), with a synopsis (65 words or less), a quality still photograph from the film and a photo of the Director.
  6. Make sure the film title, your name, e-mail and contact numbers are written on the Discs and labeled on the packet. If you haven’t signed the entry form we will not accept your film, for issues concerning copyright and public exhibition.
  7. You can email us the scanned images of the film stills, of 300dpi in JPEG or TIFF format (or send a CD copy of the same). If you are sending film prints as hard copies, they must be of at least 15cm x 10cm.
  8. The address where the packages should be sent: ViBGYOR Film Festival Office, 2nd Floor, Palace Road, Trichur 680 020, Kerala Tel: 0487-2330830. Make sure to leave the sender’s address and e-mail on the reverse side of your package; the festival committee cannot accept responsibility for any damage or loss of parcels during transit. The receipt of your parcel shall be duly acknowledged via email.
  9. Films of all languages should have English subtitles. The idea is to make it inteligible for the international audience. All the screening will be in original audio with English subtitles.
  10. It is the responsibility of the Entrant to clear all issues pertaining to copyright/s on music included in the film and/or other related materials including film clippings.
  11. The Entrant agrees that all materials they send to the Festival can be used for the promotion of the Festival by organizers in any form through the diverse media outlets. The Festival reserves the right to use clip/s in montages (promotional trailers) with a new audio track (Music and V.O.).
  12. The festival retains the right to keep the DVD copies of all films for future non-commercial screenings (mostly as part of the ‘ViBGYOR Touring Festival’ to which different filmmakers will be invited when it happens in your vicinity)
  13. In the event of a legal dispute, the court of appeal will be at Thrissur.
